Paper tax return deadline has now passed
Individuals and companies that have yet to submit their tax returns have now missed their opportunity to send off paper tax returns and now can only submit the information online.
The deadline for sending off paper tax returns was the 31 October, and the HMRC has said that any paper tax returns sent in after the 1 November will automatically result in a £100 fine, whether there is any additional tax to pay.
The fine is part of a new system of penalties brought in this year to encourage people to send off their returns earlier and not miss deadlines. Taxpayers do still have the ability to file their tax return online on the HMRC’s website until the 31 January 2012.
Using the services of fully qualified accountants Manchester can help businesses ensure that they do not miss any tax return deadlines and end up with any unnecessary additional payments to the taxman.
